The plastics industry is one of the most important parts of engineering.
In fact, our lives are filled with plastic parts that make our world easier and more efficient. The pursuit of a Plastics Technology Certificate helps students stay competitive with the latest advancements in the field--whether they are new to the business or a seasoned engineer. You'll learn how to make cost-savings decisions that will help you become an economical asset to your organization.
At UW-Stout, in partnership with the UW Milwaukee School of Continuing Education, you'll receive hands-on training and problem solving skills from instructors who came from the field themselves. They practice what they teach and are able to pass on that firsthand knowledge and experience to their students.
Earn the certificate by completing nine or more days of related courses in as little as 18 months (not to exceed three years). Single courses may be taken without the pursuit of the certificate.
Courses

The most efficient and effective approach to plastic component failure is performing a systematic failure analysis following the scientific method. Someone once said, "If you don't know how something broke, you can't fix it," highlighting the importance of a thorough understanding of how and why a product has failed.
Learning Outcomes
- Learn the essentials of why plastic components fail
- Understand the five factors affecting plastic part performance
