Infusion of Career Readiness Competencies is the “WHY” to majors at UW-Stout

Career Services across the country are continuously challenged in preparing enrolled students to meet future employer and workforce skills.

UW-Stout Career Services is tackling this challenge head-on with an intentional infusion of Career Readiness Competencies into our applied learning programs, Cooperative Education and Internship Program and Grow, Persist, Succeed, which have been recognized nationally and statewide.

What are Career Readiness Competencies?

The National Association of Colleges & Employers established a foundation of skills for students to ensure successful entrance and launch into a career. Based on research, eight competencies were created, and established for the first time a shared agreement and language by employers and career professionals:

  • Career & Self-Development
  • Communication
  • Critical Thinking
  • Equity & Inclusion
  • Leadership
  • Professionalism
  • Teamwork
  • Technology

For more information, visit Career Services' parents and families website.

You can also visit our First Destination Report, which shows UW-Stout's employment and continuing education outcomes from undergraduate programs, as well as statistics that demonstrate the impact and success of our students.
