While the weather outside is frightful, it's important your student stays active over winter break, whether they're in Menomonie or back home with you.
It's easy to fall into a routine of watching a show, curled up on the couch under a favorite blanket, trying to stay warm. But there are many ways your student (and you) can get their heart rate up over the winter months.
On-campus at Stout
- The Health and Fitness Center has special winter hours for students and community members.
- The North Point Fitness Center is open 24 hours.
Off-campus in Menomonie or at Home
- The Don Fanetti Ice Arena has open ice skating on Sunday nights.
- Maybe your local ice rink has open ice skating during the winter months.
- Check out those great holiday deals at the mall and take an extra lap around the shops.
- Download a fitness app and work out in your living room.
- Take in the views at your local park.
What was your student's favorite winter activity as a kid? Skiing or snowboarding? Building snow forts? Sledding? Get outside with them and join in the fun. Be a kid again.
Small activities can benefit your student over winter break. Their brain may get a rest from school, but their body will thank them for remaining active while school is out.
