Brief Biography
I teach applied peace studies and geography here at Stout. In that capacity, I do my best to help students understand how much power they have to change their communities and the world. I try to create a space for students to learn how to struggle against the social structures and systems that cause oppression and violence and keep us from reaching our full potential as human beings. I led the development of the Applied Peace Studies curriculum to give students who want to create positive social change a chance to learn the philosophy and strategies of active nonviolence. As a certified Kingian Nonviolence trainer, I also conduct nonviolence training for students, faculty, and community members as well as give talks on nonviolent resistance and informed activism.
