Gregory Kalosis joined the UWPD in October 2024 as the current Chief of Police. He and his wife, Tonya relocated from Florida after working for the Charlotte County Sheriff's Department for almost 28 years. His previous roles at the Charlotte County Sheriff's Department were Street Crimes Sergeant, Narcotics Unit Sergeant, Volunteer Coordinator Sergeant, Road Patrol, Crisis Negotiation Team Leader and Sergeant over the SRO Unit. Kalosis graduated from Sam Houston State University with a B.S. in Criminology and is a graduate of Impac University with an MBA (Emphasis on Public Administration). Kalosis has attended the FBI-Law Enforcement Executive Development Association Trilogy Courses.

Prior to his public safety career, Kalosis served as a Corporal in 1st Battalion, 4 Marines Regiment, 1st Marine Division as a Forward Observer for the 81mm Morter Platoon (Weapons Company) and was deployed to the Persian Gulf War during Desert Storm and Desert Shield.

His is married to Tonya Kalosis and they have 3 children.
