Elle Alvarez

Ready to start her career before graduation.
Hometown Eden Prairie, MN
Major B.S. Applied Social Science Economics Minor
Graduation Fall 2018

I was attracted to the small class sizes and polytechnic nature of UW-Stout. I am a very curious and creative individual and have a found a home in the Applied Social Science program.

Elle Alvarez has been able to foster her curious and creative qualities and continue growing as a person and as a researcher. Every facet of the B.S. Applied Social Science program prepared Alvarez for life after college.

"The faculty truly care for their students," said Alvarez. "Almost all of the opportunities I have had came from faculty members who invested in my education more than I thought possible."

Alvarez learned valuable skills both in and out of the classroom.

"I felt safe and comfortable working with and talking to my professors," said Alvarez. "They have helped me become a great communicator and researcher."

She got involved in the campus, and it gave her many opportunities both socially and academically.

"I was heavily involved with the Stout Student Association," said Alvarez. "Where I was vice president and also served as a senator."

The Stout Student Association allowed Alvarez to learn more about the world of higher ed, which she hopes to work in someday. The experience also gave her the ability to practice networking professionally which helped Alvarez feel more at ease during the job search/interview process.

"I found a great program and great peers and mentors who helped me to learn and grow during my time in college, said Alvarez. "I look forward to applying the many skills I have learned from my degree in the real world."
