Tutoring & Study Resources

Free, online support for your student
December 11, 2020

Tutoring might sound like an elementary term, but even college students need academic support. A wide variety of free, subject-specific online tutoring resources is available to your student if they need help. Maybe they’re even thinking of being a tutor or mentor themselves?

Below is a list of just some of our tutoring resources. If your student is looking for additional academic support, their instructors and advisers are always available to talk.

The Writing Center offers free help to students with writing assignments for any class and welcomes writers of all skill levels.

Peer tutors work with students to develop skills, strategies and confidence to improve their writing.

Tutoring is free and confidential.

To schedule an appointment, your student can visit The Writing Center's scheduling page.

Math Teaching & Learning Center

The Math Teaching & Learning Center is where students can learn basic math skills. Teachers start daily classroom sessions with a short lecture, and then students begin online homework assignments with help from teachers and specially trained peer tutors.

The Math Tutor Lab serves a variety of math courses, and tutors do their best to help every student. Tutoring is available online. Students seeking help with math can view the tutoring schedule to contact an available tutor.

Subject-Specific Tutoring

Additional online subject-specific tutoring resources in biology,  business, chemistry, computer-aided drafting, computer science, economics, physics and psychology are available in StoutCloud.

Mentoring Program

First-Year Student seeking a peer mentor to share experiences, learn study tips, or is looking for ways to get involved on campus, can check out the Stout MentorLink.

Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors passionate about helping others learn how to navigate campus and college life are encouraged to volunteer as a peer mentor.
