Application Process
To apply to a graduate-level program at UW-Stout, you'll need to complete both the general Graduate School application as well as your program-specific application.
(International applicants have a slightly different process, please see below.)
To successfully apply, please complete the following:
Make sure to complete your application by program-specific deadlines listed below.
We recommend using the online application as the easiest and fastest way to apply. You can begin the application any time and save your progress to come back to it later.
You can also request a paper copy of the application that you can then mail in to us. Please email or call us to make a request.
If you use the online application, you can submit payment by credit card at the end of the process. If you opt for a paper application, please include a check for $56 made out to the University of Wisconsin-Stout.
We'll need the following transcripts as a part of your application. Please note that official transcripts must be received directly from the issuing institution. UW-Stout transcripts do not need to be requested.
- Undergraduate transcripts showing the undergraduate degree awarded. If that transcript shows fewer than 55 semester credits, please submit all transcripts.
- Graduate transcripts for any graduate work attempted or completed.
- Credential Evaluation Report is required if you completed your degree outside of the United States.
- Applicants who have already received a credential evaluation by a NACES approved member should request the evaluation be sent directly to UW-Stout from the evaluator. Official/attested transcripts are not required for these applicants.
- UW-Stout will perform an evaluation internally for applicants who have not had a credential evaluation completed. These applicants should request their official/attested transcripts be sent to UW-Stout directly from the institution(s).
