Each year, Racine AAUW awards scholarships to a Racine County woman who is entering the first or second semester of her junior or senior year at a four-year accredited, degree-granting college or university and a Racine County woman entering her third or fourth semester at a two-year college the following fall.
• Applicants must be female and legal residents of Racine County, Wisconsin.
• Applicants must be continuing or enrolled in a either a two or four-year accredited degree- granting institution as a full-time student (12 or more credit hours per semester).
• As of the fall semester 2021, four year applicants must be enrolled as either juniors or seniors. Two year accredited institution applicants must be in their second year.
• Applicants must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or above.
a. The online two-page application, completed.
b. The essay described below.
c. A copy of your financial aid form (FAFSA) from your college/university.
d. An official copy of your transcript(s) from all colleges/universities attended.
e. Applicants will also need two current (within the past year) letters of recommendation: one from a dean, professor, teacher or advisor, and the other from a non-academic source (no family members or guardians). These letters may be sent with the packet or separately. All materials must be sent to the address below and received by the deadline.
In addition to the online application, write and upload an essay of 500 words or less that addresses, in separate paragraphs, each of the four questions below:
a. Tell us about yourself and why AAUW should give you a scholarship.
b. How have your college education and experiences affected your personal growth? What are your strengths and challenges that may affect your educational success?
c. How will you contribute to your community?
d. AAUW promotes equity for all women and girls, lifelong education and positive societal change. How do you envision your education and your future career contributing to those goals?
